Restaurant Gariful
Located on the sunniest island of the Croatian coast, right on the waterfront of Hvar, Restaurant Gariful offers an exclusive dining experience with a stunning view. As you dine, you can enjoy the picturesque sight of luxurious yachts lined up next to each other, creating a mesmerizing ambiance.
Our Story
Restaurant Gariful carries a name that holds a deeper meaning. In the local Dalmatian dialect, "gariful" refers to a carnation, a flower symbolizing admiration, respect, and deep emotions. This name represents the family business of the owner, who proudly carries his father's nickname. It serves as a reminder of their first floral venture, and now continues as a place of gastronomic excellence.

Customer reviews

The fresh, locally sourced seafood is the highlight. Watching the sunset from the restaurant terrace is a special treat, and the live singer adds to the pleasant ambiance.
If you're in Hvar and looking for quality seafood in a nice setting, Gariful is worth a visit. The combination of good food, friendly service, and a lovely atmosphere makes it a solid choice.

+/- is known to be by far the most expensive restaurant in Hvar town: lobster pasta with seafood starters, local quality wine, water, coffee, digestives and dessert cost us KN 4,400 for the two of us in July 2022, that's definitely possible without any effort or with French wine etc.
+a restaurant with excellent & friendly service (at least if you behave a bit friendly yourself....)
+a restaurant with excellent seafood: (breaded) oysters, lobster (especially with noodles - but the lobster works well without noodles too..) or fish in general were always served to us perfectly prepared, at least not a negative experience since 2011
+With the terrace on the first floor there is now also a restaurant with a view of the harbor.
+a restaurant with a large selection of wines, prices are just like the most expensive restaurant in the city.
+/- Price/performance: The prices are steep, the service and quality of seafood are very good. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether this is a good/bad price/performance ratio in the seafood sector, but we will definitely visit Gariful again next year. Price/performance is “good” for us.
The restaurant is perfect for seafood fans who are willing to pay a premium for excellent seafood. It is hardly suitable for vegans/vegetarians/chicken breast eaters (or comparable), as this group is obviously not the target group of the restaurant concept and will probably be disappointed by the lack of selection and high prices for vegetables and chicken.
Reservation helpful.
Addendum 2023: Everything remains good

Don’t pay much attention to negative reviews as they are mostly from people who walked and had no clue what this restaurant is about, or complaining about quality of sushi (?!?) and so on.

Please remove this poor animal from your exhibit- lobsters alone are impressive enough.
